(no subject)

Isaac was not just an employee for the Lehnsherr family, he was family. He had been there through every important event of the last twenty years. He had seen everything but had not breathed any of the secrets that he had been entrusted with in any of that time.

And now he was dismembered on the kitchen steps with the blood covering most of the surroundings still wet and tacky.

The flies would be there soon.

"This will not happen on your watch." It is a threat and statement of fact rolled into one. "The wedding will happen without interruption and without some beast taking more lives." Whatever had killed Isaac had claws. Not even machine guns did this much damage to bodies.

This would need to be cleaned up and the marble replaced before there were guests. No one needed to see the great spreading stains of the life of his friend that had soaked into the stone.

Reaching out a hand he called to the iron and pulled the blood from the stones. Tiny droplets beaded up from the marble and fell upwards like rain that missed the sky until they had dispersed into the air.

He would never be so crass as to threaten the security overtly. But a small demonstration of his powers for a good cause would remind them that it was not only the blood of dead men that could be moved.

"Am I understood?"

Ramon is on his knees, frowning at the body in contemplation. The blood pooled around him doesn't seem to penetrate his suit.

"Rest assured, Mr. Lensherr. Nothing of this sort will happen on our watch."

Because he has an idea what to watch for.

No.

That's not possible.

His scans would reveal his presence before he actually steps out of the shadows, yellow eyes firmly fixed on their would-be employer.

"My son, Kurt Darkholme." He gives her son a professional nod. "The rest of my entourage will be equally discrete."

"Kurt. Fetch a tarp for this unfortunate gentleman."

It's a chance for his son to demonstrate the other benefit he brings to this job.

The corner of his mouth twitches ever so slightly, then there's only a lingering cloud of brimstone where he once stood. A moment later, he returns in the same manner with the weather cover from a neighbor's car.

"Ihre Bedeckung, mein Lüttich."

He smiles, revealing those extended canines then covers the body with a sharp snap of the car cover.

"Mister Lensherr, have you experienced similar...difficulties with your staffing in the past?"

There's something familiar about these wounds. It's bothersome.

So has he.

His look darkens. "When did it start?" He's trying not to lead Lensherr on, but he's burning with curiosity. "And are the bodies always left to be found like this?"

"Have your staff send reports of every incident to my suite at the Wundagore. For that matter, if there are any suspected incidents or tie-ins, send those in a seperate folder for my perusal."

He should've known better. For that matter, so should Irene.

He stands up and the blood falls off his hand, cleanly shed. "Mr. Lensherr, I sincerely hope that by the time your daughter is married, we will have ended this specific problem for you permanantly. However, please keep in mind that this will not be your only threat to security. Possibly not even the most significant one."

"I will see to it no such flash is allowed to disturb the guests. Your daughter's day should be as special as the girl herself."

He looks away from the body with a sigh. There'll be time for that later. For now, more mundane concerns need his attention.

"Incidentally, who is the lucky groom?"

[identity profile] ms-tique.livejournal.com 2007-05-22 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
A look starts to form on Ramon's face before he freezes his features into a neutral mask.

"Your daughter must be quite smitten."

Perhaps they were better off in Europe, arranging minor political and character assassinations. If this is the cost of respectability, he'd prefer poverty.

"The usual opposition, or is Xavier himself against this?" The name comes out more emotionally than he intends. Damnit.

Ramon puts his hand on the other man's shoulder, his gold eyes darkening to amber.

"She is your daughter. It is not too late to call this off."

Ramon gives a nod of understanding.

"If preventative measures are not enough, I ensure the safety of your family over that of all other...guests. My son can teleport them to safety while we take care of any other miscreants."

The polite, businesslike smile returns. "But that will not come to pass. This will be a beautiful wedding."
